The Austin Packers girls’ soccer team, the No. 12 seed in the Section 1A girls’ soccer tournament paid #5 seed Kasson/Mantorville a visit in a first-round Section 1A  matchup Monday evening in Kasson, and it was the Komets getting goals from four different players as they pulled away in the second half to advance 4-1.

The Komets were looking for a fast start at home, and they got just that when Halle Determan tallied in the  7th minute to give KM an early 1-0 lead.  The score remained 1-0 at the end of the first, but the Komets started pulling away as Elle Dagar, Kaylee Narveson and Alayna Gossard all tallied in the second half to open up a 4-0 lead at one point.  Mary Obang broke the goose egg on the scoreboard for Austin with a goal late to make the final 4-1.

Goalkeeper Mya Walters finished with 18 saves, including five in the first five minutes, and Austin had seven shots on goal.

Austin finishes with a final record of 2-9.
