The Austin City Council held five different public hearings on street improvement projects at their Monday meeting for projects that will start in early May, and continue through the summer.  KAUS spoke with Austin Mayor Steve King during the “Meet the Mayor” segment on “Wright Here, Right Now,” and he stated that the projects will involve everything from mill and overlay projects to total reconstruction…

The projects will include work on 1st Street and 1st Avenue Southeast, which is slated to start in early May, a project on 19th Street and 1st Avenue Northwest, which is scheduled to start in late May or early June, work on 16th Street and 1st Avenue Northeast, which is scheduled to start in early May, and a project on 8th and 9th Streets Northwest which is slated to start in late May or early June.  Another project scheduled to start this spring will include street reconstruction on 8th Avenue and 8th Place Northwest, and on 8th Avenue Southwest, with an anticipated start date in May or June.
