Austin Bruins rally to defeat St. Cloud 4-3 in shootout Wednesday evening

The Austin Bruins trailed the St. Cloud Norsemen 3-0 in the second period in a Central Division matchup at Riverside Arena Wednesday evening, but the Bruins were able to rally back to tie the game at 3, and a goal in a shootout from Barrett Brooks lifted Austin to a 4-3 victory.

Reggie Millette scored his fourth goal of the season, a short-handed tally with assists to Carson Riddle and Frank Dovorany at 10:24 of the second period to start the comeback, and John Lundy cut the Norsemen’s lead to 3-2 at 17:00 of the third period with an assist to Travis Shoudy.  Barrett Brooks then scored 1:21 later with an assist to Cullen Rush to tie the contest at 3 apiece, and after a scoreless overtime period, Brooks was the only player for either squad to score in the shootout to life the Bruins to the dramatic, come-from-behind win.

Austin outshot St. Cloud in the game 36-28, with Bruins netminder Tyler Shea turning aside 25 shots to earn the win between the pipes.  With the win, Austin moves to 9-14-2-2 on the season, good for 22 points and fourth place currently in the Central Division.  The Bruins are back into action Friday night at Riverside Arena versus the first place Aberdeen Wings, with face-off at 7:05 p.m.
