Another NAHL Showcase is in the books for the Bruins who come away from Blaine, MN, with a 2‐1‐0‐1 record.

Austin began the Showcase on Wednesday, September 18 with a 1‐0 victory over the Jamestown Rebels. The following night, they themselves were shutout by the Janesville Jets, 4‐0. The Bruins got right back into the swing of things posting their second shutout of the season on Friday night against the New Mexico Ice Wolves, 3‐0. The Showcase was capped off with a heartbreaking 4‐3 shootout loss at the hands of the Kenai River Brown Bears on Saturday night. Jaxon Friedman was the only netminder to start multiple games for the Bruins, he was in goal for the 1‐0 victory on Wednesday and the 4‐3 shootout loss. Dante Sheriff led all Bruins players in points with a goal and two assists. Barrett Brooks, Tiernan Shoudy, Peter Jacobs, and DeVon Fields all ended the weekend with two points apiece.

The Bruins travel to Aberdeen for two games to start the traditional portion of their schedule. They’ll take on a Wings team that struggled mightily at the NAHL Showcase going 1‐2‐0‐1 but the Wings and Bruins are very familiar having played two preseason games earlier this season with Austin dropping both games. There will be plenty of motivation for the black‐and‐gold as they watch the Wings raise the NAHL Robertson Cup Championship banner on Friday night. Aberdeen not only won the Central Division and the Robertson Cup last season, they knocked the Bruins out of the playoffs in the process.
