Austin Bruins fall to Janesville Jets 2-1 in overtime Saturday evening

The Austin Bruins were looking to sweep the Janesville Jets in their season opening series at Riverside Arena Saturday evening, but Xavier Lapointe of the Jets had other ideas as his first goal of the season in overtime pushed the Jets to a 2-1 win.

Austin, who edged Janesville 4-3 Friday night jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first period on a goal by Mason Poolman at 2:54, but a short-handed goal from Jake Sacrantini of the Jets at 7:13 of the second period tied the game at one apiece.

Janesville outshot the Bruins in the game 29-23, and Austin netminder Tyler Shea stopped 27 of the 29 shots he faced.  The Bruins are 1-0-1 on the young season, and they are back in action Friday night at Riverside Arena for the first of three straight games with the Minnesota Wilderness.  The puck will drop at 7:05 p.m. Friday evening.
