Austin Bruins fall to Aberdeen Saturday evening 3-2

The Austin Bruins were looking for a split of their NAHL weekend series Saturday evening in Aberdeen versus the Wings, and although Jens Richards scored his first two goals of the season in the third period, the Bruins’ comeback attempt fell just short as the Wings remained unbeaten on the season with a 3-2 win.

Aberdeen led 3-0 when Richards tallied on the power play at the 11:00 mark of the third period, with an assist to Travis Shoudy.  Shoudy assisted on Richards’ second goal of the period at 18:19, but the Wings, who outshot the Bruins 47-17 in the game were able to hold on for the win, and in the process moved to 13-0 on the season.

Hudson Hodges turned aside 44 shots for the Bruins, who were 1-5 in the game on the power play.  With the loss, Austin is now 3-3-1 overall, and they return to action Friday night in Bismark versus the Bobcats, with faceoff at 7:15 p.m.
