Albert Lea man sentenced to supervised probation on felony burglary, gross misdemeanor violation of a domestic abuse no-contact order charges in Mower County District Court

An Albert Lea man facing a felony burglary charge, plus a gross misdemeanor violation of a domestic abuse, no-contact order charge in Mower County District Court after an incident that took place in Austin on July 20th, 2023 has been sentenced to supervised probation and time in the sentence to service program.

40-year old Stephen Aaron Craig Brandt was sentenced Wednesday to five years of supervised probation, and 40 hours in the sentence to service program for a felony charge of 3rd degree burglary.  A 30-month prison sentence was stayed for five years if Brandt complies with the 17 different conditions of his probation, and Brandt was also sentenced Wednesday to two years of supervised probation for a gross misdemeanor charge of violation of a domestic abuse, no-contact order.  A 364-day jail sentence was stayed for two years if Brandt adheres to the conditions of his probation, and Judge Natalie Martinez determined that Brandt will be allowed to serve the two sentences concurrently.

Brandt was convicted on the charges on August 28th after pleading guilty the same day, and felony charges for 1st degree burglary, 2nd degree burglary of a dwelling, and for theft, taking, transferring or using movable property with no consent in the case against Brandt were dismissed with his guilty pleas.
