UFCW Local 663 to vote this week on offer from Hormel Foods

The United Food and Commercial Workers (UFCW) Local 663 will hold a vote this week on what was termed the final offer from Hormel Foods to union workers at the plant in Austin.

The local union issued a statement saying that Hormel gave them what they termed their final offer last week, and the union’s bargaining committee unanimously recommended a no vote.  A union vote is scheduled for this week, and UFCW Local 663 members of the bargaining committee indicated that they hope to reach a settlement with Hormel as quickly as possible.  In a company statement from Hormel Foods…

“While we are disappointed we have yet to reach an agreement, we remain optimistic. Hormel Foods has had strong working relationships with the UFCW for decades, including in Austin. Our representatives will continue to negotiate in good faith.”

The current contract between the union and Hormel was set to expire Sunday.
