Minnesota House passes $1.8 billion bonding bill
On a vote of 100-34, the Minnesota House passed a $1.8 billion bonding bill after nearly 10 hours of debate. The long-delayed bill will help pay for public works, infrastructure and construction projects around the state at a time when the unemployment rate is stuck at historically high levels due to the pandemic. State District 27B Representative Jeanne Poppe, DFL’er from Austin talked to KAUS News about the passage of the bill from St. Paul…
At last word, the bill contained $7 million towards the city of Austin’s wastewater treatment facility renovation project. 25 Republicans voted with House-majority Democrats to pass the bill. The Republican-led Senate is set to take up the bill today. Senator Michelle Benson cautioned last night that the House made changes to the bill without previously agreed-upon language.
