Austin teen sentenced to supervised probation in connection to four different burglaries in Austin in September 2021

An Austin teen who was charged after having been found responsible for four different burglaries in Austin in September of 2021 has been sentenced to supervised probation on three different felony charges against him in Mower County District Court.

18-year old Elias James Wells was convicted and sentenced Friday to five years of supervised probation for a felony charge of theft, taking and driving a motor vehicle without the owners’ consent.  A prison sentence of a year and a day in the case was stayed for five years if Wells complies with the terms of his probation, and he was also convicted and sentenced to five years of supervised probation for a felony charge of 1st degree burglary, possession of a dangerous weapon or explosive.  A 58-month prison sentence was stayed for five years if Wells adheres to the conditions of his probation, and he was also convicted and sentenced to five years of supervised probation for a felony charge of 2nd degree burglary of a dwelling.  A 28-month prison sentence was stayed for five years if Wells complies with the terms of his probation, and he first pleaded guilty to the three felony charges in November of 2021.

Felony charges for 2nd degree burglary, possession of burglary tools, 3rd degree burglary, steal property, 1st degree burglary of a dwelling, occupied, non-accomplice present, two counts of theft, taking, using or transferring movable property without consent, possession of stolen property and two counts of 3rd degree burglary, steal, commit felony or gross misdemeanor, gross misdemeanor charges for 3rd degree criminal damage to property, reduce value $501-$1,000 and for theft, taking, using or transferring movable property without consent, and two misdemeanor charges for 4th degree criminal damage to property in the case were all dismissed with Wells’ guilty pleas.
