CRWD to host 7th Canoemobile the week of May 6th-10th
Cedar River Watershed District – Mower SWCD again is partnering with the nonprofit Wilderness Inquiry to host Canoemobile programming all next week (May 6-10) at Ramsey Dam in Austin on the Cedar River State Water Trail.
This is the 7th session of Canoemobile since 2018. For interviews, the best time would be during the session break from 11:00-11:30 AM but Wilderness Inquiry likely could make someone available during a session, if needed.
Canoemobile is staged on land owned by Mower County across from The Old Mill Restaurant at the Ramsey Dam. Use this address:  3600 11th Place NE, Austn, MN
This program includes paddling in 10-person canoes (each guided by a highly trained boat captain) and land-based activities. It mostly involves 4th-, 5th- or 6th-graders from every public and private school in Mower County along with Cedar watershed communities of Hollandale, Blooming Prairie and Hayfield.
There is no participation fee for students thanks to state funding for Aquatic Invasive Species (AIS) awareness given annually to Mower County and watershed-based state funding.
