The Austin School Board approved a contract between the district and the Austin Principals Association for the years 2020-2022 at their regular monthly meeting Monday evening at the Austin City Council chambers.

District Human Resources Director Mark Raymond stated to the board that the APA had tentatively approved the contract on February 14th, and he added that the two-year total package settlement would total 5.83%.  In other business, the board approved a transportation contract between the district and Palmer Bus Service for fiscal years 2021 and 2022. Lori Volz, the Executive Director of Finance and Operations for the district stated to the board that the contract pricing reflected the new tiered school start and end times.  She went on to state that the new tiered busing system for the district will save $45,000 per year in costs due to more efficient routes. The Austin School Board also approved revised regular and 45/15 school calendars for the 2020-2021 school year, and the board also approved a revised policy concerning school board member code of conduct.

In other business, the Austin School Board later adjourned to a closed session to review student data that is not public and to request the approval of confidential resolutions regarding student expulsions per Minnesota statutes.  The next regularly scheduled meeting for the Austin School Board will be held on Monday, April 13th at 5:30 p.m. at the Austin City Council chambers.
