Austin Public Schools implement single-fee model for school supplies

In an effort to ensure that all students in the Austin Public School system start the school year off with the supplies they need to be successful, Austin Public Schools made the decision to move from separate school supply lists to a single-fee model for grades K-4.  Andrew Adams, Director of Finance and Operations for the Austin School District spoke with KAUS and talked further about the initiative…

Adams went on to state that the amount of savings the district was able to accomplish was significantly better than anticipated…

Adams also talked about what the genesis of the program was….

Adams went on to state that the feedback he has received from parents in the district concerning the new program has been overwhelmingly positive, and he added that other districts have contacted him about the program, wanting to learn more, what the process looked like, and any efficiencies he could share with them.
