Austin Packers boys tennis team edges Red Wing 4-3 Tuesday

The Austin Packers boys tennis team played host to the Red Wing Wingers in their home regular season finale at Paulson Courts Tuesday, and it was the Packers closing out the match in style as a three-set win for No. 1 singles player Cole Hebrink lifted the Packers to a dramatic 4-3 win.

With the match knotted at 3-3, Hebrink fell in the first set to Red Wing’s Noah Montgomery 7-5, but it was Hebrink rallying back to take the next two sets 7-5 and 6-4 to provide Austin with the winning point.  Also picking up wins for the Packers Tuesday was Nathan Danielson at No. 2 singles, as he downed Luke Farrar of the Wingers in straight sets 6-2, 6-2, Lucas Rust at No. 4 singles swept McCoy Walter of Red Wing 7-5, 6-0, and the No. 1 doubles team of Kyler Flanders and Quinton Grimley downed Eli Flattum and Austin Hosfeld of the Wingers in straight sets 6-3, 6-4.

Austin will wind up the regular season with a match at Mankato West versus the Scarlets today (Wednesday), with the action scheduled to start at 4:45 p.m., and the Packers will then travel to the Rochester Outdoor Tennis Center Saturday for the Big 9 Conference Tournament, with action slated to start at 9:00 a.m. that morning.
