Austin Packers boys basketball team downs Rochester Mayo 68-59 Friday evening

The Austin Packers boys basketball team was looking to snap a two-game losing skid Friday evening as they played host to Big 9 Conference rival Rochester Mayo at Packer Gym, and Peyton Ransom led three Packers in double figures in scoring with 20 points as the Packers downed the Spartans 68-59.

Besides Ransom’s 20 points, Dakota Retterath drilled four of Austin’s 13 3-pointers in the game on his way to 16 points, Mikah Christopherson swished five 3’s for 15 points, Cole Hebrink and Isaac Osgood each totaled two 3-pointers for six points apiece, and Banyaan Omot and Jackson Clausman each scored two points in the win.

The Packers are now 7-13 overall and 6-9 in the Big 9 Conference, and they will return to action Tuesday night in Mankato versus the West Scarlets, the No. 10 team in the state in the latest Class AAA poll, with the varsity tip-off at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday evening.
