Austin City Council approves rezoning of Baudler property at Monday meeting

The Austin City Council addressed a rezoning ordinance at their Monday meeting for the Baudler property located at 1400 4th St. NW, adjacent to Hardee’s.  Planning and Zoning Administrator Holly Wallace stated to the council in a memo that under the petitioner’s request, the property would be split into two parcels, A and B. The property is currently zoned as single-family residential, and it was requested that Parcel A be rezoned to multi-family/office and Parcel B be rezoned as community business.  Austin Mayor Steve King spoke with KAUS during the Meet the Mayor segment of Wright Here, Right Now and stated that the council agreed unanimously to approve the request from the petitioner to develop the property into a drive-through coffee shop on one parcel and townhomes on the other despite the city’s planning commission voting unanimously to deny the request…

Mayor King stated that he thinks the project will be a good fit in that area moving forward…
