Two people injured, one seriously in two-vehicle accident on Highway 56 in Dodge County Monday morning

Two people were injured, one of them seriously in a two-vehicle accident on Highway 56 in Dodge County Monday morning.

The Minnesota State Patrol reported that a 2015 Freightliner semi being driven by 61-year old Donald Dean Fenske of St. Charles was traveling north on Highway 56 at approximately 10:53 a.m. Monday morning, while a 2015 Chevrolet Traverse being driven by 77-year old Michael Anthony Scovill of Rochester was traveling on 750th Avenue.  The State Patrol indicated that the two vehicles then collided at the intersection of the two roads in Hayfield Township.  

Scovill sustained life-threatening injuries in the accident, while Fenske sustained non-life threatening injuries, and both were transported to Mayo Clinic/St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester for treatment.  The State Patrol reported that road conditions were wet at the time of the accident, and they added that both parties involved in the collision were wearing their seatbelts.

The Dodge County Sheriff’s Office, the Hayfield Fire Department, Dodge Center Ambulance, and Mayo Flight all assisted the State Patrol at the accident scene Monday morning.
