Four people injured in two-vehicle accident on Interstate 35 in Freeborn County Sunday afternoon

Four people, two from Iowa and two from Arizona were injured in a two-vehicle accident on Interstate 35 in Freeborn County Sunday afternoon.

The Minnesota State Patrol reported that an Infiniti QX56 being driven by 53-year old Kathryn Roberta Pfister of Tuscon, Arizona was traveling northbound on Interstate 35 at approximately 1:10 p.m. Sunday afternoon when her vehicle collided with a southbound 2017 Toyota RAV 4 being driven by 53-year old Cara Lee Czarneckimuta of Ankeny, Iowa at milepost 12 in Albert Lea Township.

Czarneckimuta and a passenger in her vehicle, 75-year old Phyllis Ann Czarnecki of Dubuque, Iowa, plus Pfister and a passenger in her vehicle, 74-year old Carolyn Rose Pfister, also of Tuscon, Arizona all suffered non-life threatening injuries in the accident, and they were all transported to Mayo Clinic Health Systems in Albert Lea for treatment.  The State Patrol indicated that all parties in the accident, with the exception of Carolyn Pfister were wearing their seatbelts, and the Freeborn County Sheriff’s Office, plus Fire and Police Departments from Albert Lea all assisted the State Patrol at the accident scene Sunday afternoon.
