Four Albert Lea residents injured in two-vehicle accident on I-35 in Steele County Sunday afternoon
Four Albert Lea residents were injured in a two-vehicle accident on southbound Interstate 35 in Steele County late Sunday afternoon.
The Minnesota State Patrol reported that a 2005 Chrysler Town and Country van being driven by 75-year old Richard Burton Anderson of Albert Lea, and a 2015 Dodge Ram pickup truck being driven by 22-year old Kasey Ray Manges of Albert Lea were both southbound on Interstate 35 by the Straight River Rest Area at approximately 5:04 p.m. Sunday afternoon when the two vehicles collided at milepost 35 in Somerset Township.
Anderson and three passengers in his vehicle, 72-year old Betty Lou Anderson, 51-year old David Richard Anderson and 48-year old Teresa Marie Raatz, all of Albert Lea all sustained non-life threatening injuries in the accident, and they were all transported to Mayo Clinic Health Systems in Owatonna for treatment, while Manges and a passenger in his vehicle, 24-year old Kristopher Warren Manges of Albert Lea were both uninjured.
The State Patrol indicated that all parties involved in the accident were wearing their seatbelts, and the Steele County Sheriff’s Office, plus Mayo Ambulance Service both assisted the State Patrol at the accident scene Sunday afternoon.
