Blooming Prairie Awesome Blossoms softball team rallies for 3-2 win at Kenyon-Wanamingo Tuesday

The Blooming Prairie Awesome Blossoms softball team took to the road for the first time for the young 2024 season Tuesday as they were at Kenyon-Wanamingo to take on the Knights in a Gopher Conference game, and a two-run rally in the top of the seventh inning was enough to lift the Blossoms to a 3-2 win.

Kenyon-Wanamingo took a 2-0 lead with single runs in the bottom of the third and fourth innings, but the Blossoms were able to push a run across in the top of the fifth to cut the lead to 2-1, and the two runs in the top of the seventh proved to be just enough for the win.  Offensively for BP, Lily Schammel went 1 for 4 with a pair of runs knocked in, Macy Lembke was 1 for 4 with an RBI, a run scored and a stolen base, Shawntee Snyder was 2 for 3, Madelyn Harvey went 1 for 3 with a stolen base, and Layla Lembke was 1 for 4 with a stolen base.

Macy Lembke was strong in the circle for the Blossoms Tuesday as the went the distance and gave up the two Kenyon-Wanamingo runs, both earned, on seven hits, striking out eight and walking five to earn the win.

The Awesome Blossoms are out to a 2-0 start, and they return to action Thursday at home versus Maple River, with first pitch scheduled for 4:30 p.m.
