Riverland CC Blue Devils men’s basketball team downs MSCTC 87-56 Saturday

After seeing their 21-game winning streak come to an end last Wednesday at the hands of Rochester Community and Technical College, the Riverland Community College Blue Devils men’s basketball team was back in action at home versus Minnesota State Community and Technical College Saturday, and it was the Blue Devils bolting out to a 40-17 lead at the half on their way to a 87-56 rout to sweep the regular season series from the Spartans.

The Blue Devils saw 13 players break into the scoring column Saturday, with DeWayne Thompson leading the way with 13 points, Savier McCall was also in double figures in scoring with 11 points, Daeshawn Jackson tallied nine points off the Blue Devils bench Saturday, Jose Yepez and Jourdan Weddle earch scored eight points apiece, Nazih Chehade and Avery Weddle each totaled seven points apiece, former Austin Packer Buai Duop and Christian Campbell each chipped in six points, Marcell Ireland, Jr. and Rafael Balines each tallied four points, and Mannie Mungon and Damar Jenkins both scored two points in the lopsided win.

The Blue Devils are now 8-1 in conference play and 22-2 overall on the season, and they return to action at Minnesota West Community and Technical College Wednesday evening at 7:30 p.m.
