Austin Packers boys golf team sixth at Owatonna Invitational Thursday

The Austin Packers boys golf team traveled to the Owatonna Country Club for a nine-team invitational Thursday, and it was the Packers finishing in a tie for fifth with Rochester Century at 325, but the Panthers earned fifth place via a tiebreaker.  St. Peter, the only AA school in a field filled with Class AAA teams took first place with a team total of 310, two strokes better than second-plae Prior Lake at 312.  Northfield and the host Huskies tied for third at 320, but the Raiders were awarded third place via a tiebreaker, followed by Century in fifth, the Packers in sixth place, Rochester John Marshall was seventh with a team total of 328, Mankato East took eighth with a 350, and Winona was ninth with a team total of 378.

Sophomore Cale Tupy fired the low round for Austin Thursday with a 77, freshman Elijah Krueger carded a 79, freshman Isaac Anderson finished with a score of 82, fellow freshman Izaac Erickson fired an 87, sophomore Carter Hovelsrud finished with a 93, and junior Owen O’Rourke tallied a 96.

A hectic week continues for the Packers today (Friday) as they travel to LeSueur Country Club for an eight-team invitational involving host LeSueur-Henderson, Mankato East, Fairmont, Jordan, New Prague, New Ulm and Shakopee, with the teams set to tee off at 8:30 a.m.
