Area cross-country teams compete at 23-team Bill Glomski Invitational in Stewartville Thursday

Cross-Country teams from Blooming Prairie, GMLOS and Pacelli were among the 23 teams competing in the Bill Glomski Invitational in Stewartville Thursday, and in the boys varsity 5000 meter competiton, Winona Cotter took first place with 40 points, followed by Rochester Area Home Schools, or RAACHE in second place with 73 team points, with Rochester Lourdes, Pine Island and the host Tigers rounding out the top five.

For the Pacelli Shamrocks, junior Yong Achuoth ran the best time for the squad, as he finished 23rd with a time of 19:38.64.  senior Andrew Frederick was 68th with a time of 21:58.48, sophomore Grayson Bickler took 69th with a time of 21:58.77, and freshman JJ Bastyr was 72nd with a final time of 22:06.76.  For Blooming Prairie, who were competing without two of their top three runners due to illness and injury, junior Will Sunde ran the top time for the Awesome Blossoms with a final mark of 20:36.20, senior Drew Kubicek was 101st with a time of 24:01.53, sophomores Tyler Anderson and Drew Reinke were 110th and 112th, respectively, with times of 25:01.71 and 25:27.87, and senior Ben Riley was 116th with a time of 30:20.54.  For GMLOS, sophomore Carter Glynn took 22nd for the Bulldogs with a time of 19:29.09, senior Eric Shaw was 25th overall with a final time of 19:42.06, junior Teague Alden took 39th with a time of 20:21.69, senior Brendan Arndorfer was 67th with a final time of 21:41.87, freshman Braydn Nordeng finished 108th with a time of 24:38.02, and sophomore Cole Reid was 117th with a time of 29:34.70.

In the girls varsity 5000 meter competition, the Cotter Ramblers made it a clean sweep of the team competitions as they took first with a total of 83 points, followed by Waseca in second with 89 team points, and Rochester Lourdes, Pine Island and Stewartville rounded out the top five.

For the Pacelli Shamrocks, freshman Kya McManus broke into the top five individually, as she was third with a time of 21:01.44, junior teammate Kirsten Koopal finished in the top ten, as she was ninth Thursday with a time of 21:49.06, junior Lexi Lewis finished 55th overall with a final time of 24:55.60, and junior Liz Frederick was 76th with a time of 26:48.04.  For Blooming Prairie, freshman Gloria Hernandez ran the best time for the Blossoms Thursday as she finished 17th overall with a time of 22:36.75, fellow freshman Sophia Esplan was 74th with a time of 26:41.38, and seniors Rachel Winzenburg, Anna Haberman and Lilly Schammel were 111th, 119th and 123rd, respectively, with times of 30:55.85, 32:31.59 and 34:12.06.  For GMLOS, sophomores Naomi Warmka and Keywain Stier were 59th and 65th, respectively, with times of 25:07.90 and 25:29.06, senior Delaney Alden finished 104th with a time of 29:07.58, sophomore Karina Lee was 108th for the Bulldogs with a final time of 30:12.01, and freshman Azalia Dahl was 112th with a time of 31:04.36.
