Two individuals sentenced to prison time for violating an order for protection and motor vehicle theft in two separate cases in Mower County District Court
Two individuals were sentenced to prison time for violating an order for protection and motor vehicle theft in two different cases on Wednesday in Mower County District Court.
Johnson Gilbertson
25-year old Anthony Michael Robert Johnson of LeRoy was sentenced to 18 months in prison for a felony charge for violating a no contact order within 10 years of the first of two or more convictions. He received credit for 100 days served.
Johnson received a concurrent sentence of 15 months in prison for violating probation on a previous conviction for a felony charge for violating a domestic abuse no contact order, and he received another concurrent sentence of 21 months in prison for violating probation on another previous conviction for felony violation of a domestic abuse no contact order. Johnson received credit for 404 days served. He received another concurrent sentence of 21 months in prison for violating probation on a previous conviction for felony domestic assault. He received credit for 343 days served.
The charges stem from an incident on August 12th at a residence in the 900 block of Everett Street North in LeRoy when a woman who had domestic assault no contact order against Johnson called authorities when he suddenly appeared at her residence.
30-year old Trouper Montgomery Gilbertson of Albert Lea was sentenced to 17 months in prison for a felony charge of theft, taking and driving a motor vehicle without owner consent.
He received a concurrent sentence of 17 months in prison for a felony charge for fleeing a peace officer in a motor vehicle. Gilbertson received credit for 160 days served, and a misdemeanor charge for charge for reckless driving was dismissed at sentencing as part of a plea agreement reached on September 20th.
The charges stem from an incident on June 13th where Gilbertson led Austin Police on a vehicle chase involving a stolen car out of Albert Lea after a warrant had been issued for his arrest. Gilbertson was chased to the 2100 block of 8th Avenue Southwest where he drove onto a lawn, stopped, exited the vehicle and wound up later swimming across Turtle Creek to evade authorities. Gilbertson was arrested later that afternoon near the Twin Towers.
In addition to prison, Gilbertson must also pay $4,585 in fees and restitution.
