Twin Cities metro area passes 70% mark for those 16 and over who have received the COVID vaccine; rural Minnesota at 57%

The Twin Cities metro area has passed the 70-percent mark for those 16 and over who have had at least one dose of the COVID vaccine — but that number is only at 57 percent for Greater Minnesota.  Health officials expect there’s more “vaccine hesitancy” until better information gets out.   Commissioner Jan Malcolm:

The Minnesota Department of Health reported that at last word in Mower County, 19,696 people out of a total population of 39,807 have received at least one dose of the vaccine, and 17,781 people have received both doses thus far for a total of 44.6% of the county’s population that have completed their vaccination series.  The Health Department’s Doctor Nathan Chomilo says they’re setting targets and looking at counties, zip codes and even individual census tracts, to try to bring vaccine to communities and address people’s questions.
