Three women injured in UTV accident in Rose Creek Saturday evening
Three women sustained injuries in a UTV accident in Rose Creek Saturday evening.
Mower County Sheriff’s Office Deputies responded to the accident report at approximately 8:28 p.m. Saturday evening near 60081 170th St. in Rose Creek. The accident involved the UTV rolling over in a field into a grove of trees.
Chief Deputy Sheriff Mark May stated that the accident was reported by a group of ATV riders who noticed one of the women waving her arms in their direction. May reported that that they found two of the women pinned beneath the UTV and helped get it off of them before calling 911.
May went on to state that it appeared that the UTV was traveling south on the field edge when the driver’s side tire caught a rut, causing the vehicle to lose control and slide on the grass towards the tree line, where it impacted a tree. May indicated the vehicle may have then spun around and struck another tree, at which point it rolled onto its side, pinning the two women underneath.
18-year old Mariah Weiss, of Grand Meadow was transported to Mayo Clinic Health System in Austin by private vehicle before law enforcement arrived on the scene. 18-year old Jenna Bentzin, of Rose Creek was transported to the hospital by Mayo Ambulance while the third woman, 19-year old Kassidy Kirtz, of Adams was airlifted to the hospital by Mayo One.
