Three people injured in one-vehicle accident on U.S. Highway 218 in Steele County early Wednesday morning

Three people were injured in a one-vehicle accident on U.S. Highway 218 in Steele County early Wednesday morning.

The Minnesota State Patrol reported that a 2011 Chevy Malibu being driven by 19-year old Thaban Derrione Moussa Jeffers of Austin was southbound on Highway 218 near 123rd Street in Blooming Prairie Township at approximately 5:46 a.m. Wednesday morning when his vehicle went into the ditch, struck a field drive and vaulted. 

Jeffers and two passengers in his vehicle, 18-year old Niles Jason Fitzpatrick of Milwaukee, Wisconsin and 19-year old Keviyon Montrell Price of Kenosha, Wisconsin suffered non-life threatening injuries in the accident, and all three were transported to Mayo Clinic Health Systems in Austin for treatment.  The State Patrol indicated that Jeffers was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the accident, while Fitzpatrick and Price were not.

The Steele County Sheriff’s Office and the Blooming Prairie Fire Department assisted the State Patrol at the accident scene early Wednesday morning.
