Stewartville man discovered passed out in pickup in Racine sentenced to prison time in Mower County District Court

A Stewartville man found passed out in a pickup truck in the city of Racine in January has been sentenced to prison time in Mower County District Court.

37-year-old Shaun Michael Sloan was arrested on January 3, 2019, after a Mower County Sheriff’s Deputy found Sloan asleep in a truck in Racine at 3:00 a.m. that morning. The deputy reported that he saw a can of butane and a zip-top bag which seemed to hold methamphetamine inside the truck.

Sloan failed three field sobriety tests and a search of the vehicle turned up 45.97 grams of methamphetamine.  Sloan pleaded guilty to charges of 2nd degree drug possession and 4th degree DWI.  He was sentenced Thursday to five years and 10 months in prison, with credit for 227 days already served.
