Former 2nd Ward Austin City Councilman Steve King was sworn in as the 34th Mayor of the City of Austin just prior to Monday evening’s council meeting.  Mayor King, who had served as a city councilmember since 2008 spoke with John Wright on the “Meet the Mayor” segment on KAUS and talked about how the city is shaping up budget-wise heading into 2021…

King went on to state that the city will be looking to a pair of freshmen state legislators, State District 27B Representative Patricia Mueller of Austin and District 27 Senator Gene Dornink of Hayfield to aid the city in obtaining approximately $10 million in bonding dollars for the city’s reconstruction project at its wastewater treatment facility….

Monday also saw three Austin City Councilmen take their oaths of office, as 1st Ward Councilman Oballa Oballa and 2nd Ward Councilman Michael Postma will both be starting their first terms on the council, while 3rd Ward City Councilman Paul Fischer was sworn in for his second term on the council.
