The Minnesota State Patrol has released the names of those involved in a fatal two-vehicle accident in Mabel Wednesday morning.

The State Patrol reported that a 2015 Toyota Corolla driven by 19-year old Lauren Elizabeth Bedard of Houston was traveling north on Lyndale Street in Mabel at approximately 10:19 a.m. Wednesday morning and attempted to make a left-hand turn onto Highway 44 to go west.  Bedard’s vehicle then collided with a 2004 Peterbuilt tractor being driven by 50-year old Perry Lee Omot of Rushford. Omot had been travelling east on Highway 44 when the two vehicles collided at the intersection.

Bedard was airlifted by Mayo One to Gundersen Medical Center in LaCrosse with life-threatening injuries and was listed in critical condition at last word.  The State Patrol went on to report that 17-year old Dylan Allen Delaney of Mabel was killed on impact, and another 17-year-old passenger was transported to Gundersen Medical Center.  Omot was uninjured.

The State Patrol indicated that road conditions were dry at the time of the accident, and Bedard, Delaney and Omot were all wearing their seatbelts.  They added that it was unknown if the unidentified 17-year old passenger was wearing a seatbelt.

The Fillmore County Sheriff’s Office, Fire and EMS crews from Mabel, EMS crews from Winneshiek Hospital and Harmony, Mayo One and MnDOT all assisted the State Patrol at the accident scene.
