A toddler from St. Paul suffered life threatening injuries in a three-vehicle accident in Steele County this morning.

The Minnesota State Patrol reported that 2017 Ford Explorer being driven by 29-year old Kelsey Lynn Lembke of Blooming Prairie and a 2014 Chevy Equinox being driven by 29-year old Kyrie Larae Grams of St. Paul were stationary on Highway 30 and 14th Avenue SE in Summit Township in Steele County when a 2008 Chevy Silverado being driven by 31-year old Anthony Michael Ingram of Blooming Prairie collided with the rear end of Grams’ vehicle, which then, in turn, collided with the rear of the vehicle being driven by Lembke.

Both Lembke and a passenger in her vehicle, 2-year old Maverick Wayne Lembke of Blooming Prairie were uninjured.  Grams suffered non-life threatening injuries, but a passenger in her vehicle, 2-year old Macoy Roger Schmidke of St. Paul suffered life-threatening injuries.  Both were transported to Alina Hospital in Owatonna. Ingram was uninjured in the accident.

The State Patrol reported that road conditions were wet at the time of the chain collision-type accident, and Ellendale Fire and Ambulance and the Steele County Sheriff’s Office assisted the State Patrol at the accident scene.
