Southland downs Lyle/Pacelli 78-38 in Southeast Conference boys basketball action Monday evening

The Lyle/Pacelli Athletics boys basketball team was back into action after a 10-day layoff Monday evening as they traveled to Adams to meet the Southland Rebels, the No. 20 team in the state in the last Class A rankings from the Minnesota Basketball News in a Southeast Conference matchup, and it was the Rebels racing out to a 39-19 halftime lead and draining 12 3-pointers on their way to a 78-38 win.

The Athletics had two players in double figures Monday night as forward Dylan Christianson tallied 14 points and Landon Meyer added 12 points, while Chase Bauer totaled eight points, and Logyn Brooks and Andrew Fredrick each scored two points.  For Southland, Noah Goergen drained four of the Rebels’ 12 3-pointers on his way to leading all scorers with 20 points, Nick Edland tallied nine points, Maverick Hannah swished two 3’s on his way to seven points, Travis Kirtz, Andrew Timm, and Sam Boe all totaled six points apiece, Jonas Wiste and Gavin Nelson each scored five points apiece, Cole Miller and Micah Johnson each scored three points, and Tate Goergen, Riley Jax, Henry Wiste and Kaleb Yunker all scored two points apiece in the win.

With the loss, the Athletics are now 5-7 overall on the season and 1-3 in the Southeast Conference, while the Rebels raised their record to 9-2 overall and 2-1 in the Southeast Conference with the win.  Lyle/Pacelli returns to action in Grand Meadow Friday night versus the Superlarks, while the Rebels will be right back into action this evening (Tuesday) at home versus LeRoy/Ostrander.

Both games tip off at 7:15 p.m.
