The Southern Minnesota Education Consortium, or SMEC will be featuring a program this coming summer entitled, “SMEC Summer Academy.”  Scott Klavetter, preschool through 6th grade Principal with the Kingsland Schools talked about the academy with John Wright on “Wright Here, Right Now” on KAUS that will feature camps that will focus on STEM activities, reading and language arts and project-based learning activities…

Klavetter went on to talk about another camp that will focus on value-added production concerning agriculture…

Klavetter went on to state that math and reading courses will also be available to students in the consortium over the summer.  He also stated that registration information for families for the new summer activities will be coming out next week. Transportation for the activities will be provided for all seven of the school districts in the consortium to their new facility just east of Austin near the intersection of Highway 56 and I-90.
