Following a five-point weekend on the road in Cloquet, Bruins forward and Mercyhurst University (DI) commit Dante Sheriff has been named the Bauer NAHL Central Division First Star of the Week.

On Friday, Sheriff managed an assist during the Bruins 3-2 shootout loss to the Wilderness, but it was Saturday where the Ontario-native broke out scoring two goals and added two helpers. Sheriff’s  production since the start of the season has been steady, to say the least, as he’s averaging well over a point per game with 31 points in 28 games played. Thanks to his five points on the weekend, Sheriff also became the Bruins leading scorer on the season.

The honor is the first of the season for Sheriff and the third of the year bestowed on an Austin Bruin following Connor Mylmok and Ben Almquist.

The Bruins are back in action this weekend taking on the Bismarck Bobcats for a pair of games in North Dakota. Following a road game in St. Cloud, MN, next Friday, the Bruins return home on Saturday, January 10 where they cap off the home-and-home series with the St. Cloud Blizzard.
