The parings for the Section 1A girls’ basketball tournament have been determined, and the Blooming Prairie Awesome Blossoms, who finished the regular season with a record of 18-5 earned the No. 1 seed in this year’s tournament.  The Blossoms will host either No. 16 seed Rushford Peterson or No. 17 seed LeRoy/Ostrander Thursday night at 7:00 p.m.  The Cardinals and the Trojans will meet in a play-in game tonight in Rushford at 7:00 p.m.

The Hayfield Vikings, who finished at 14-11 garnered the No. 4 seed in this year’s tournament, and they will host No. 13 seed Schaefer Academy Thursday night at 7:00 p.m.  Lyle/Pacelli, who was the runner-up in the Section 1A girls’ basketball tournament last season finished with a record of 6-19 this year and will be the No. 12 seed.  They will travel to No. 5 seed Kingsland Thursday night at 7:00 p.m.  The Southland Rebels will be the No. 7 seed with an 11-11 record and will host No. 10 Lanesboro Thursday night at 7:00 p.m., while the Grand Meadow Superlarks earned the No. 6 seed with a 16-9 record and will host No. 11 seed Alden/Conger/Glenville/Emmons.  Other first round matchups will include No. 3 Houston hosting No. 14 Spring Grove and No. 2 seed Fillmore Central hosting No. 15 seed Bethlehem Academy.

After Thursday night’s action, the tournament will continue Monday, February 24th with the two quarterfinal games in the upper half of the bracket at Rochester Century High School at 6:00 and 7:30 p.m., and the other two quarterfinal games in the lower half of the bracket at Rochester Lourdes High School at 6:00 and 7:30 p.m.  The winners move on to play in the semi-finals at the Rochester Civic Center Saturday, February 29th at 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m., and the winners of those two games will play for the Section 1A title on Thursday, March 5th at 6:00 p.m. at the Rochester Civic Center.
