It has been said that when life gives you lemons, make lemonade. But when life gives you a diagnosis of ALS, lemonade is probably the last thing on your mind.
Sarah Lysne was diagnosed with ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis) in the summer of 2019. At first it was difficult to know how to handle this diagnosis. Certainly a fear of what is ahead occupied many waking moments. But then Sarah made a decision. Find the joy that each day brings.
Sarah has been sharing her quest of finding joy in columns published in the local newspaper. She is now sharing the collection of those columns in a new book, “Choosing Joy”.
We had the opportunity to visit with Sarah and talked about how her ALS journey is progressing and about sharing her story with her book. Here is our conversation.
Find out more about “Choosing Joy” at www.SarahLysne.com or pick up a copy at Sweet Reads Bookstore in downtown Austin. All proceeds for the book with go to support the ALS Association.
