The Salvation Army’s annual Red Kettle Campaign is underway, as volunteers will be ringing bells to raise funds to help those in need this holiday season.  KAUS spoke with Major Jeff Strickler from the Mower County chapter of the Salvation Army who talked about how volunteers can sign up to ring bells now through the rest of the holiday season…

Strickler went on to state that the red kettles are critically important to the work of the Salvation Army, especially this year with the COVID-19 pandemic….

Strickler stated that 1,500 volunteer hours are needed to cover all six of the red kettle sites in Austin, and at last word, just over 500 hours, or a third of the hours needed are currently filled.  Some kettles are in place at smaller stores in Austin, with the others to go out late this week, or after Thanksgiving.  Funds raised locally from the red kettles remains in Austin, and for more information and to register, go to registertoring.com, and you can also call Stacy to get registered at 437-4566.
