Rural Austin man dies from gunshot wound during domestic situation
Authorities are investigating after a rural Austin man died from a gunshot wound during a domestic situation late Tuesday evening.
Mower County Chief Deputy Sheriff Mark May reported that deputies and Austin Police responded to a domestic assault situation at approximately 11:20 p.m. Tuesday evening at an apartment complex in the 24000 block of 540th Avenue in rural Austin. A resident at the apartment told authorities that a firearm was brandished during the assault and went off, striking a 41-year-old male. The man was deceased by the time law enforcement arrived on the scene.
Because the investigation is ongoing, May did not release the victim’s identity. The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension is assisting in the investigation. May went on to state that authorities are not searching for suspects at this time, and he added that there is no danger to the general public.
