Montrell Jacobs erupted for 20 points in the first seven minutes of the Riverland Community College Blue Devils’ matchup with Western Tech at RCC Wednesday evening to help lead the Blue Devils to their 10th straight win 85-69.

The Blue Devils, who are ranked No. 8 in NJCAA Division III men’s basketball jumped out to a 25-9 lead and never looked back on their way to the win.  Jacobs wound up with 38 points, three rebounds and two blocked shots, while teammate Mahlik Lindsey racked up 33 points as the Blue Devils led 59-31 at the half.

Terrell Smith added 15 points in the rout, while Ibrahim Mohammad and Austin High School grad Nyagoa Obany each added eight points.  Obany also pulled in eight rebounds and blocked two shots while Tate Hebrink, another graduate of Austin tallied four points, five rebounds and five assists.

Riverland is now 17-1 on the season, and the Blue Devils return to action in Willmar Saturday afternoon against Ridgewater College.  Tip-off will be at 3:00 p.m.
