Pairings for section boys hockey and girls basketball were released over the weekend, and in Section 1A boys hockey, the Austin Packers will be the No. 10 seed, and they will travel to Faribault Tuesday night to take on the seventh-seeded Falcons, with face-off at 5:30 p.m. The winner will advance to play No. 2 seed and defending section champion New Prauge in New Prauge Thursday night at 7:00 p.m. Another first-round game Tuesday night will pit No. 6 Winona/Winona Cotter at home against No. 11 seed Red Wing at 5:30 p.m., with the winner moving on to play at third-seeded Albert Lea Thursday evening at 7:00 p.m. In the other half of the 1A boys hockey bracket, Northfield is the top seed, and the Raiders will host either No. 8 seed Rochester Lourdes or No. 9 seed Waseca, who will play at Graham Arena in Rochester Tuesday night at 5:30 p.m. The winner will play in Northfield at 7:00 p.m. Thursday evening, and the other Section 1A boys hockey matchup will pit No. 5 LaCrescent/Hokah against No. 4 seed Dodge County in Kasson at 7:00 p.m. Thursday night, with the winner of that game moving on to the Rochester Rec Center to play the Northfield/Rochester Lourdes/Waseca winner at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, February 25th.
