Pairings released for Section 1A, 1AA and 1AAA baseball

Local high school baseball teams have found out where they will be opening the Section 1AAA, Section 1AA and Section 1A tournaments this Memorial Day weekend.

In Section 1AAA, the Austin Packers have garnered the No. 5 seed and will open section play at Red Wing Saturday afternoon against fourth-seeded Wingers.  You’ll hear the game on AM 1480 KAUS, with pre-game at 12:50 p.m. and first pitch at 1:00 p.m.  Other quarterfinal matchups include No. 1 Byron hosting No. 8 seed Faribault Saturday afternoon at 1:00 p.m., and in the lower half of the bracket, third-seeded Albert Lea will open at home against No. 6 seed Winona Saturday afternoon at 1:00 p.m., and No. 2 seed Jordan will entertain No. 7 Kasson-Mantorville at the Mini Met at 1:00 p.m. Saturday afternoon.  Teams will be back in action in both the winners and elimination brackets at the high seed on Tuesday, June 1st, the second round of elimination bracket action will continue at the high seed on Thursday, June 3rd, then the rest of the tournament will be played in Red Wing on Saturday, June 5th, and continuing with the 1AAA finals in Red Wing on Wednesday, June 9th.

In Section 1AA, the GMLOK Bulldogs were seeded seventh in Sub-Section 1AA West, and they will travel to No. 2 seed Pine Island on Monday, with first pitch at 5:00 p.m.  In Section 1A, the Lyle/Pacelli Athletics earned the number two seed, and they will host No. 15 seed Houston at Marcusen Park Monday afternoon at 5:00 p.m.  You’ll hear the game on AM 1480 KAUS, with the pre-game show at 4:50 p.m. and first pitch at 5:00 p.m.  The Southland Rebels will be the No. 3 seed, and they will host No. 14 seed Schaefer Academy in Adams Monday at 5:00 p.m., and the Blooming Prairie Awesome Blossoms earned the No. 8 seed, and they will host ninth-seeded Waterville-Elysian-Morristown on Monday at 5:00 p.m., with the winner moving on to play No. 1 seed Hayfield, the number one team in the state in the last Class A poll at Riverland Community College on Thursday, June 3rd.   The tournament will be single elimination in the first round before switching to a double-elimination format the rest of the way, with all of the remaining games to be played at the baseball complex at Riverland Community College.
