‘Our Austin, Our America’ photography exhibit to go on display at State Capitol in St. Paul

The Minnesota Historical Society has announced the opening of the photography exhibit ‘Our Austin, Our America’ will take place on March 13th at the state Capitol in St. Paul.  The exhibit, the first in a series of public art galleries at the Minnesota State Capitol, features portrait photography telling the story of immigrants, refugees, and other newcomers who have made their home in Austin.  Austin Mayor Steve King spoke with KAUS and stated that Austin native Bill Taufic presents the city as an example of how communities can embrace growing diversity….

The exhibit, which shows people who have come to Austin from such countries as Mexico, Ethiopia, Bolivia and Myanmar will be on display at the State Capitol from March 13 through June 30th in the 3rd Floor Exhibit Gallery.  The Minnesota Historical Society stated on its webpage that Our Austin, Our Minnesota is part of a public art gallery that exists for Minnesota artists to tell Minnesota stories.
