Operations Manager of MCHS Austin and Albert Lea campuses talks administration of COVID-19 vaccines

Administration of the Pfizer, Moderna and Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccines is continuing in not only southeastern Minnesota, but around the entire state and the country as well.  KAUS spoke with Rita Moyer, the Operations Manager of the Mayo Clinic Health System campuses in Austin and Albert Lea who gave an estimate as to how many citizens of southeastern Minnesota have received the vaccine to this point, and she added that the response to receive the vaccine has been strong, particularly among senior citizens…

Moyer went on to state that the vaccines are proving to be 95% successful in preventing the virus…

Moyer encouraged everyone to get the vaccine, and she added that possible mild side effects, such as fatigue and body aches are usually gone in a short period of time..

The Minnesota Department of Health reported that at last word in Mower County, 17,333 people out of a total population of 40,124 have received one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, and 14,099 people have received both doses thus far for a total of 35.1% of the county’s overall population completing their vaccination series.
