One person injured in three-semi collision Tuesday morning on I-35 north of Albert Lea
One person was injured when three semis collided on Interstate 35 north of Albert Lea Tuesday morning.
The Minnesota State Patrol reported that all three semis were traveling north when they crashed just before 10:00 a.m. Tuesday morning.
One driver, 38-year old Issak Adan Ibrahim of Columbia Heights, suffered non-life threatening injuries. He was first transported to Mayo Clinic Health System in Albert Lea and was then flown to Mayo Clinic/St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester for treatment.
The other two drivers, 59-year old Dana Lee Horst of Montezuma, Iowa, and 53-year old James Arthur Gunnell of Gunnell Florida, were uninjured. .
The State Patrol reported that all three drivers were wearing their seat belts.
The Freeborn County Sheriff’s Office, Albert Lea Fire Department, Clarks Grove Fire Department, Mayo Ambulance, and MnDOT all assisted the State Patrol at the accident scene. State Patrol Sergeant Troy Christianson reported that the accident was one of many due to slippery road conditions and drivers traveling too fast for conditions as 10 different semis jackknifed Tuesday through the I-35 corridor from the Iowa border all the way to Owatonna.
