Junior guard Okey Okey swished eight 3-point field goals on his way to a season-high 28 points as the Austin Packers held off a second half charge from the Northfield Raiders and pulled away late to win 62-38 in Big 9 Conference boys’ basketball action from Packer Gym Tuesday night.

Okey tallied five of his eight 3’s in a first half that featured crisp ball movement by Austin offensivley along with stifling defense that forced ten turnovers and helped the Packers to a 35-14 lead at the half.  The Raiders were not going to go quietly, though, as they opened up the second half on a 19-7 run that closed the gap to eight points at 41-33.  Austin called timeout and Okey then helped put the game away as he nailed three of his threes and added a two point field goal on a left-handed layup on a drive to the hoop in a strech of just over three minutes to put Austin up 53-38 on their way to the win.

Besides Okey’s 28 points, Agwa Nywesh tallied nine points, six rebounds and five steals, Teyghan Hovland added nine points and seven rebounds, and Moses Idris chipped in eight points and seven rebounds.  With the win, Austin raises their record to 15-4 in the Big 9 conference and 19-4 overall on the season.  The Packers return to action on Friday night in Rochester against the Century Panthers, with the varsity tip-off at 7:30 p.m.
