Northwest Austin residence damaged in Monday afternoon fire

The State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating after a northwest Austin residence was damaged in a fire Monday afternoon.

Austin Fire crews responded to the report of a possible house fire at a residence in the 700 block of 10th Avenue Northwest at approximately 2:20 p.m. Monday afternoon, and upon arrival, Fire Chief Jim McCoy stated in a report that smoke was seen coming from the attic area of the two-story home.  The fire damage was contained to the attic area, but Chief McCoy indicated that the first and second floors of the residence sustained water damage.  Both occupants of the residence were not at home when the fire occurred, and McCoy stated that assistance is being provided by the American Red Cross.

Fire Departments from Brownsdale and Mapleview assisted the Austin Fire Department at the scene.  No injuries were reported, and Chief McCoy stated that no damage estimate is available at this time.
