Mower County sees another double-digit increase in its number of positive COVID-19 cases

The Minnesota Department of Health reported Wednesday that Mower County saw another double-digit increase in its number of positive COVID-19 cases with 10 more to boost the county’s total from 206 to 216.  Pam Kellogg, Mower County Community Health Division Manager spoke with KAUS News during a news conference from the Mower County Emergency Operations Center and stated that the recent steady increase in cases in the county is still being attributed largely to the virus spreading amongst families, carpools and residents of apartment buildings….

Kellogg went on to state that Mower County Health and Human Services is studying the impact Hormel Foods and Quality Pork Processors, the two largest employers in Austin are having on the county’s overall COVID-19 numbers…

Kellogg stated that her office has been among many other local and state health organizations that have been working with Hormel Foods and Quality Pork Processors since the start of the pandemic to keep their facilities as COVID-19 free as possible…

Kellogg added that residents of Mower County are not wearing masks in public places such as grocery stores and other places where larger crowds congregate, and are not social distancing as much as they should be…
