Mower County sees 3.2% rate of unemployment in May

Minnesota’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate ticked down to 4.0% in May, from 4.1% in April.  DEED Commissioner Steve Grove says the state is moving in the right direction with steady job growth:

Mower County saw a labor force of 20,543 workers in May, with 19,886 of those workers employed and 657 unemployed for an unemployment rate of 3.2%, which was down from 3.5% in April.  In other county unemployment rates from around our KAUS listening area, Freeborn County was at 3.5%, Fillmore County was at 2.7%, Olmsted County saw a 3% rate of unemployment in May, Dodge County was at 2.8%, Steele County was at 3.5% and Waseca County saw a 4% rate of unemployment in May.  The private sector has regained 62.2% of the jobs lost to the COVID-19 pandemic.
