Mower County sees 3.2% rate of unemployment in July
The latest report shows Minnesota has regained nearly two-thirds (64 percent) of the jobs it rapidly lost at the onset of the COVID pandemic, from February through April of 2020. Oriane Casale with the state Department of Employment and Economic Development says:

Mower County saw a labor force of 20,335 workers in July, with 19,679 of those workers employed and 656 unemployed for an unemployment rate of 3.2%, which was down from 4% in June. In other county unemployment rates from around our KAUS listening area in July, Freeborn County saw a 3.7% rate of unemployment in July, Fillmore County was at 2.5%, Dodge County was at 2.7%, Olmsted County saw a 2.8% rate of unemployment in July, Steele County was at 3.3% and Waseca County reported a 3.6% rate of unemployment in July. Minnesota added 14-thousand-500 jobs in July, the largest monthly gain since March. And the state’s unemployment rate dropped a tenth-of-a-point to 3.9 percent — compared to the U-S jobless rate of 5.4 percent.
