Mower County Health and Human Services received approximately 400 additional doses of the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine from the Minnesota Department of Health last week, so a vaccination clinic was held  for a targeted group at the Austin Holiday Inn Convention Center that included those in vaccine group 1A, which includes health care personnel and long-term care residents, plus also EMS personnel, mental health practitioners and group home employees and residents.  KAUS News spoke with Pam Kellogg, Division Manager with Mower County Health and Human Services, who stated that residents of the county age 65 and older can log on to the county’s website to put themselves on a waiting list to receive the vaccine…

To register for the wait list, log on to www.co.mower.mn.us, and click on the “COVID-19 vaccination wait list for Mower County residents 65 and over” link on the front of the page.  The Minnesota Department of Health reported Wednesday that in Mower County, 2,885 residents in the county out of a total of 40,124 have received one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, and 597 people have completed the vaccination series for a total of 1.5% of the residents in the county.  At last word, Minnesota has administered the coronavirus vaccine to 447,610 people, and 116,928 people have received both shots of the vaccine, which is required for maximum effectiveness.
